Gaskell Custom Shop: Left-Handed Gary Moore 1983 ST-80GM Tribute Model

Gaskell Guitars is pleased to announce a second stock left-handed Gary Moore Tribute model from the Gaskell Custom Shop.

This guitar is a recreation of the guitar Gary Moore used in 1983 during the "Corridors of Power" era. It was actually made as a "Musician's Model" Gary Moore signature model by Fernandes Guitars in 1983. Fernandes continued to offer it until 1986. The Fernandes version was designated ST-80GM and was a faithful reproduction of Gary Moore's original guitar. They did not make many of them and it was never available left-handed. Surviving examples fetch huge prices despite being in fairly bad condition usually.

For the first time in history, lefty guitarists can buy a new one in 2026!

The new Gaskell ST80-GM reproduction is a Tier 2 GASKELL WORKHORSE series model, made in Australia using pre-manufactured body blanks in keeping with my current Custom Shop model. It features a striking gloss black finish, Gotoh hardware, 2 x Dimarzio Super Distortion pickups, and a mirror pickguard (a very expensive part which I had to get specially made.) It retains the unique circular headstock string guide and Telecaster control knob of Gary's original guitar. The only variation to the original is mine has a boat jack. I cannot get left-handed body blanks with side jacks at this time. To preserve that original feature, I would have to otherwise make a body from scratch which would also boost the overall price by several thousand dollars. I am not really interested in making bodies, so it is not an option.

As with all new Gaskell Custom Shop left-handed guitars, assembly, setup, and quality control are done by me personally here in Australia.

This tribute model is offered as a standard left-handed production model, making this iconic early-1980s Gary Moore weapon of choice available to lefty players for the first time ever in history. Further details, specifications, pricing, and ordering information are available now.

I am building a lot of guitars at the moment. As soon as I finish the first one, I will list it on Reverb. Lefty players living in Australia are welcome to come to my new showroom at Springwood in the Blue Mountains and try it.
