M-Series (2008 - 2012)
The original guitar that inspired me for the Gaskell M SERIES was designed by Australian guitarist Brad Kelly of the 1980's Heavy Metal band Heaven. It later became associated with legendary guitarist Marty Friedman who subsequently popularized it.

I introduced the The Gaskell "M-Series" (M = Metal) in 2008. It was the second guitar I produced. At that time originals were not available in left hand. To me it was a more aggressive-looking Explorer type guitar.
The first models came with a basswood body and maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard. I offered a choice of Floyd Rose tremolo or Fender fixed bridge. Later models were all Floyd Rose equipped. I often did EMG, Seymour Duncan, and DiMarzio upgrades as part of the PRO SERIES.
This model was a steady seller but unfortunately, I had to discontinue it in 2011. Due to the aftermath of the Global Financial Crisis, it became impossible in Australia to continue to make factory-made guitars and remain at the intended and acceptable sub-$1000 price point. The skyrocketing Australia dollar made it impossible to maintain that price point, without losing quality. We had no choice but to shift fully to inhouse Custom Shop builds, fully made in Australia and priced in Australian dollars.

Since the transition, I have never been asked to make this style of guitar and I see that Jackson does make this model in left hand now. Therefore that void has been filled. I have no compelling reason to produce this guitar again.
