I attended the Sydney Guitar Show this weekend (as a spectator.) It was a big show with many exhibitors including Fender, Gibson, Ibanez, Jackson, ESP, Schecter, D'Addario, Cole Clark, about 7 or 8 Australian guitar luthiers/brands, and various pedal and effects brands that I had never heard of.
There were a lot of people and a lot of guitars. But the one thing that stood out for me as a lefty: ZERO left handed guitars. How would I describe the show in one word? Disheartening. Of the thousands of guitars presented in all those fancy stands and fancy lighting you'd think these major brands would throw a dog a bone and maybe display one guitar, right? No. Absolutely nothing. Not one.
I came away from this show disgusted. I left in a bad mood and thinking about how the lefty community just sabotages itself. This works two ways.
Lefties, this is a Reality Check for you: You are blatantly and wilfully UNREPRESENTED. You don't exist as far as these brands go. This is not an exaggerated statement. It is THE TRUTH. Don't kid yourself. ... You should NOT be obsessing and being a fan boy (or girl) for any of these brands (with maybe Ibanez and Schecter as the exception) unless you really do have no dignity or self-respect.... I won't say anymore.
